Tsuba - Sukashi Sentoku
Description:
The Tsuba is made in "cast" technique, potentially made in 19th century. The motive representing a famous Higo Motive: a cherry tree. It is a cast Tsuba made of bronze/ Sentoku – which was only available through imported and melted chinese coins in early Japan. Sentoku and gold were handled for the same price for quite some time - this is certainly made later in 19th/20th century It seems to be made of a simple onesided mold after a desired motive of Higo or Akasaka.
Will be excellent for a Iaito.
