This is a superbly crafted tsuba from a Saotome School. Robert Haynes indicated on this website a similar piece and dedicated it to Būshū itō. Unfortunately there is no scource mentioned why he gave this indication.
A real collector's item and a safe investment. Saotome Design Tsuba are very popular among collectors.
Shown are a wonderfully worked Kikumon flower - the symbolism fits the attitude of the samurai warriors.
Comes in a nice box with cushion.
